As the oil overland is gradually exhausted, Ocean Oil will become one of the most important sources of energy in the world. And along with it, deep ocean platform technology will be a focal point in the international ocean engineering. Because of the good flexibility, lower construction cost and excellent motion performance, Spar platform has been one of the best choices for South China Sea to explore the deep ocean gas and oil. This article will mainly study Spar platform topside general arrangement, structure design, and strength analysis, which will contribute to the deep ocean platform design theory in China.In this article, the technological process of offshore oil platform and drilling is studied; the principal dimensions and main equipments of the platform topside are selected based on the literature at home and abroad. The General arrangement designed was finished according to CCS"Offshore Moving Platform Classification And Construction Standard (2005)"; the first sorting of the component dimensions for the platform topside is done by the regulation of CCS; According to the characteristics of topside load distribution and structure distortion, including the topside structure dimensions, element form and constraint conditions, the Overall Structure plate 3D shell-beam model was built by the theory of Finite Element using general Finite Element software MSC. Patran.Aiming at the platform operational case and the storm survival case, wind of three directions are considered in each case to calculate the wind load. Besides other loads value and distribution are determined. Calculated by the model, distortion and stress distribution of the platform topside structure are obtained, the dangerous parts of the structure are definite. The result of different components checked is according to the regulation of CCS. The structure layout is adjusted according to the analysis, The general arrangement drawing and structural drawing were protracted. All the results meet the regulations of CCS and requirements of in-place.According to the analyses, the constraint form of platform body to the topside has major effect on the strength of topside deck. As the platform body has plenty of constraint point to the topside, wind load has a lesser impact on the deck structure comparing to the vertical load when operating. The Spar platform topside designed in this article has a proper layout, and the strength meets the regulations of CCS.
