A Research On The Development For The Diagram Of Ship Resistance Series 60 Based On New Slender Ship Theory

Diagram of ship resistance is one of primary methods of ship form design and resistance estimation. This method has two advantages, on one hand it provides reliable basis to decide the principal dimensions and estimate resistance of new ships; and on the other hand it makes saving time and money possible and easy to put in practice. It also has one disadvantage that it still has to base on series of prototype ships. It is essential to develop diagram's applicability in order to be seasoned with new ship forms nowadays. And this thesis is to carry out the develop study of diagram of ship resistance Series 60. Wave resistance takes an important in ship resistance and as the wave resistance theory develops, it becomes a valuable research direction to calculate wave resistance in theory.It discusses how principal dimensions effect ship wave resistance and the relationships between them; it argues a general method to transform ship form and puts emphasis on prototype ship transformation.Based on new slender ship theory Noblesse, a zero-order numerical calculation method is derived to be applied to calculate wave resistance coefficients of each form ships. It carries out wave resistance coefficients calculation of two Wigley ship forms, Taylor prototype ship and Series 60 prototype ship, and compares the results with model test results respectively, which indicates that the calculation results meet the model test results very well and proves that the new slender ship theory can be applied to calculate wave resistance of general ship forms.It transforms Series 60 (C_b = 0.60) prototype ship to get a series of new ship forms, calculates their wave resistance coefficients, and the diagram of ship resistance of Series 60 is developed.
