The urban spatial structure is the basis of urban planning theoretical research, the core of which is that space distribution of inner elements in a city and combined relation, and the projection on space of a city economy, social factors. By the way of researching on the spatial structure of the riverbank cities of river basin in southwest of china is conducive to a more reasonable forecast, guidance and control of the cities'future developments, and conducive to provide the basis for planning a more healthy urban spatial structure.Water is vital to human being, yet in southwest of China ,the river basin is highly rich in water and is regionally distinctive from others which has a profound impact on ecosystem elements of cities. Rivers and waters have a variety of influences on city functions and terrains and city locating, developing, involving as well. By contract, the current rapidly-developing cities have been generating a great deal of negative affects on cities themselves bringing overwhelming pressure on the ecological and sustainable development of the river basin in southwest of china.
