Reticulated shell-string structure is a new type of space structure. The reticulated shell-string structure system is very complicated. Its construction process is commonly long and system conversion is intricate. The structure shape,sustain boundary and load mode of shell structure is changing with the impelling of the construction process. The actual state of structure system deviates from the ideal state because of deviation.This deviation could not be exactly calculated by designer and the improper construction could result in security and quality problem. Whereas construction simulation and construction monitoring can offer a referenced criterion, then security and quality problem can be avoided effectually. So, the profound research of construction simulation and construction monitoring is of great significance. In this thesis, the reticulated shell structure of"the number one sky dome of Asia"was investigated comprehensively by construction simulation and monitoring .The investigation offered references to ensure the security of the design and construction.Firstly ,this thesis researched in the primary problems in the construction process of large span reticulated shell-string structures using the birth﹠ death advanced function of ANSYS finite element software to analyze the static stress and displacement of the structure. Then, the value of simulated stress and displacement of every construction step was calculated, and the envelope diagram of every member bar was deduced to demonstrate the rationality of the design of the member bars and to offer warranty for the location of monitor and precaution actions to the possible dangerous positions.Secondly, the whole construction process and the complete status of the large span reticulated shell-string structure were monitored to educe the variation of stress of member bars during the construction process. The result of monitoring was compared with that of simulations′to provide design and construction with improved advicesThe outcome of research of this thesis: the model of calculation for large span reticulated shell-string structure is reasonable; the monitor measure is feasible, and it can offer guidance and references to the construction of similar project.
