With hydropower station's continuous improvement requirements for safe and stable operation of the hydropower generating units, the monitoring quantities have become increasing and the types have become increasingly complex in the condition monitoring system, so using various specific analysis and signal processing technology for corresponding state quantity is important and necessary for extracting the characteristic signal and lessening signal noise. the state quantity or fault signal monitoring in the system is inevitable suffering interference and influence from the noise which is generated by the hydropower unit's operation, so the signal that we get from the monitoring system includes lots of disturbance. In order to get the real and useful characteristic information which can reflect the hydropower unit, we must use the signal processing technology to eliminate the signal disturbance. The acquirement of hydropower unit's operation state is the basic task of the state monitoring and fault diagnostic technology. Only by sampling, analyzing and processing the hydropower unit's signal, the unit's running state can be identified and the unit's internal operating rules can also be revealed. The effect of signal processing has important implications the conclusions of the state analysis and fault diagnosis, therefore design and development of the signal processing platform has important significance. This paper is based on the subproject named"Condition Monitoring and Diagnosis System of Hydro-generator"of the"Hydro Power Plant Optimal Maintenance Information System", which are cooperated with the GEZHOUBA Hydropower Plant of China Yangtze Power Co. Ltd.The signal analysis and processing is an important part of state monitoring and fault diagnosis system for the hydroelectric generating sets. It has an important function for processing and transforming the monitoring signal and picking up the sensitive trouble sign, Whether the signal analysis and processing technology is used effectively and appropriately influences follow-up diagnosis directly. This research is based on specific projects. At first both the significance of the issue and the development of the technique at home and abroad are outlined, then the article analyze the common fault mechanism characteristics of the hydropower generating units , discuss the several common signal processing methods for hydropower generating units state analysis , and point out the the characteristics, applicability of each method, moreover , the design and implementation of signal analysis software in the generator mobile workstation is also be introduced . Finally, the system application's situation of the main function is revealed at the end of the article, from the application ,we can find that the system can effectively and suitably process and analyze hydropower units signal ,make timely prediction for the hydropower unit's fault, avoid the appearance and expansion of the unit's failure and achieve safe and reliable operation of the hydropower unit.
