The thesis studies on the condition monitoring and fault diagnose, and finds a method to monitor the hydroelectric unit. In combination with the real machine test in Daxia hydropower plant, this paper analyses and diagnoses these experimental data whereby obtaining the conclusion which is of important significance for hydropower plant practice based on this method.To begin with, this paper deals with the importance of turbine generator unit fault diagnosis, and analyses the existing research states and developing trend of fault diagnosis as well as the application prospect of fault diagnosis in details.Secondly, this paper introduces condition monitoring and diagnose system for hydroelectric generator set, seven commonly used methods for fault diagnostic are discussed, and a fuzzy expert system model is established which is used in fault diagnosis of turbine generator units. Also, this paper discusses the method to resolve the problems of the knowledge obtaining, knowledge expression, knowledge bank maintenance and inaccurate inference in the fault diagnosis expert system. and the system structure and realization process of system is analyzed.Thirdly, after discussing design principles of condition monitoring and fault diagnose system for hydroelectric generator set, in accordance with the specific situation of Daxia hydropower station, a design of condition monitoring system for hydroelectric generating set is present.Finally, according to the specific situation of 2# hydroelectric generating set at Daxia hydropower station, the test spots are arranged suitably, and sensors are chosen accordingly. Based on analysis of observational data, the condition of 2# hydroelectric generating set is diagnosed. With this condition, the system can diagnose the elementary fault of the unit to assist in operation and servicing.
