A long with the enhancing proportion of hydroelectricity in the whole electricity system in our country, stabilization of hydropower generating set is more and more important to the whole system operation, which convert hydraulic energy into electric power, and their running conditions determine whether the hydro-plant can supply electric power safely and economically. Therefore, the effective system of state monitoring and fault diagnose for hydropower generating set, to improve the repair pertinence and enhance the security and reliability of hydropower generating set, not only have important effect to power industry and but also to entire national economy.The importance of hydropower generating set fault diagnosis is dealt with, and existing research condition and developing trend of fault diagnosis are analyzed. The remaining shortcoming is discussed as well, which in order to supply academic base for system development.An overall structure of monitoring and fault diagnosis system for hydroelectric generating set is designed. The system contains the choice of monitoring position and the type of the sensor.It achieves the software and hardware development of hydropower generating unit state monitoring and fault diagnosis to impellents data collecting and signal analysis, on-line status monition, fault diagnose and study the key technologies.The system is used for hydropower generating set at XiLiu-shui hydropower station, while states of the plant are analyzed and results discussed. The results have great significance for hydropower plant practice.
