Reliability of relay takes an important influence to the reliability of the whole electronic system of the national defense. Cooperation between dynamic magnetic force and mechanical force is the most important element in the design of reliability. Therefore, researches on the test of dynamic characteristics of the electromagnetic relay and the evaluation of reliability based on dynamic characteristics could make both theoretic and practical sense for the improvement of the reliability of the relay, as well as the reliability of the whole national defense electronic system.The former testing method had disadvantages as bellows: the movement of armature couldn't be imaged exactly on the surface of CCD sensor; the sampling period of CCD sensor was too long; the speed of the acquisition card was too slow to meet the needs of fast testing, and the precision of card was low. This paper put forwards an upgraded method based on the former method, as well as the hardware and software of the whole system. This new system consists of a lighting and imaging part, a CCD sensor, a data acquisition card, a driving circuit and power supply, as well as a software for data processing and waveform display on a PC.Research on the corresponding arithmetic for data processing could get the curves of characteristics such as the dynamic displacement, velocity, acceleration, resultant force of the under test relay according to time, etc. Furthermore, researches on the failure mode of relay and on the dynamic parameters results in error were also made. In conclusion, the paper evaluated parameters that have something to do with reliability based on the test result of one type of relay.
