| With the development of the computer technology, the computer application in the process of the architectural design has developed from the experimental research of the early age to the technological application as "Electronic Drawing Palette",and now further to the stage of conception. But at present, the potentiality has not been released absolutely in using the computer software to aid the architectural conception designing.In recent years, the software of SketchUp as a typical computer aided architectural design software was spread quickly in the domestic. Reviewing the history of development and the utilizing of the computer aided architectural design software, we will find that the software of SketchUp has been expanding the application of computer software in the architectural design, it has been widely used in the stage of architectural conceptual design which need spirituality and freedom.The dissertation focuses on the application of the SketchUp in the stage of architecture concept designing architectural conceptual designing. In the dissertation,it describes the SketchUp in brief and summarized the characteristics of its application in the beginning, then summarizes the regulation of its application in architecture concept designing by analysising the examples of its application in architecture designing. In the following it makes a contrast research between the SketchUp and other means used in architecture designing from several aspects, so we can further the recognization of its advantage and shortage, then we put forward the strategy of its application. At last, it discusses the influence of the development of the computer technology and the broader usage of computer upon the building design, it will inevitable push the development and innovations of the designing means, method and environments, and then outline a new design environment, generate new formats of thinking, and will give architects new thoughts and opportunities.
