Typology In The Waterfront Development Of Urban Center

The water system promotes the found and development of a city, providing water source, accepting offal, and being the traffic carrier. A lot of cities in the world have initiated the waterfront development gradually since 1980's, in the post-modernist age. Domestic waterfront development is quickish these years, but is still lag behind the development of society economy. In our country, theory research doesn't go with current practice and international condition, and there are a series of problems. So the author did this research about waterfront development of urban center and hoped to provide references in the practice of city development.First of all, giving the reasons of researching waterfront and introducing current research and practice of urban waterfront generally, the author selected the research issue, the waterfront development of urban center, because of its pertinence and practicality. And then, the theory and application of architectural typology was led in, and the significance and innovation of using typology was pointed out.In the research of theory, the author used three kinds of modern architectural typology theories, which are"Urban-Architecture", Neo-Rationalism and Neo-regionalism, to explain the guiding to the waterfront development of urban center.In the research of practice, the author tried to use the type credit and comparison of architectural typology to classify various development practices on different levels, including city structure, city spatial modality, architectural function and architectural language, and discuss the patterns and approach of the waterfront development of urban center.And then, by comparing domestic waterfront development of urban center to the international one, the author analyzed the comparability and otherness, as well as the causes. At last, some problems in our country and relative strategies were raised up, which may be benefit to domestic waterfront development.
