This paper employs FEA (Finite Element Analysis) software ANSYS to analyze the structure of the the chassis frame of the new large-tonnage and double slewing ringrailway crane. According to the work characteristics of that machine, we put forward a blue print to start the project. By using the ANSYS, we get the results. Then we adjusted the structure, to make it's stress distributes more reasonable. This paper introduced the development of the railway and the railway crane at first, then introduced the traditional way of calculating the chassis frame and an other calculating way-the Finite Element Analysis. And then introduced the software ANSYS and it's some units in common use. This paper analyzed the big tonnage-double slewing ring railway crane's characteristics, and make a blue print of the project, then by using the software ANSYS we analyzed the railway crane's chassis frame in a few dangerous work condition, and improved it's structure to meet the request. we solved a big problem in designing the large-tonnage and double slewing ring railway crane made in our country. Some people have analyzed the chassis frame with SAP5 or with SOLIDWORKS, also, someone have analyzed it with ANSYS, but they modeled only 1/4 of the model or modeled whole frame but only fixed the leg, nobody have added the oil cylinder up. Of course the resul of the combined error is big. This paper adopted the way of modling the chassis frame, the leg,the pinand the oil cylinder and so on individual , then fit them together and analyzed them by ANSYS. We used the APDL language to load on the back-up ring, constraints the nodes in the middle of bottom surface of the four oil cylinder. Thus, the resulte will be more fit the fact. After complete the design and improvements of the first blue print, we bringforward a few scheme again, and optimized the box chassis frame. This study willprovide the basis for the design in the future.
