Idle speed control is an integral part of automobile engine electronic control.To control the idle speed effectively is of great significance for improving fuel economy,ride comfort of the car and reducing exhaust emissions.In this paper we first introduced the significance,the current study and developing trend of the automotive engine idle speed control.Reviewing the idle speed models at home and abroad. Using a widely used method named mean-value, the mean value model of engine idle speed was constructed using simulink in matlab.Secondly,the control strategy of engine idle speed was introduced in detail.Engine control strategy is a set of control idea made according to every running condition of engine and the engine's working and characteristics and performance.The engine is effectively controled and optimized via each actuator to achieve optimal performance.Next, the basic konwledge of fuzzy control and the use of fuzzy control toolbox were introduced .The fuzzy controller was designed . Its deficiency was found by the analyzing of the simulation results.Aiming at that deficiency a fuzzy adaptive controller with parameters self-adjusting on line was designed.The simulation results improved a lot than the fuzzy control system.Finally,a neural network predictive controller was designed according to the inhibition problem of the known disturbance . The control problem of the known disturbance can be regarded as a problem that the idle speed controller can adjust the engine speed constantly to track the variational designated speed. The neural network predictive method combined with the advantage of beforehand regulation of predictive method and the merit of infinite approximation of the neural network method is of great use to improve the following and anti-interference ability of the system.. The simulation results show this.
