This paper discussed a new end closure for pressure vessels, that consists of D-section shearing bolts, head , top flange and sealing elements etc. such as C-ring, B-ring or O-ring etc. This device has the characters of light in weight, easy in assembly and disassembly, compact in structure, reliable in sealing, easy in manufacture and suitable for end closure in various industry.This paper introduced the new end closure for pressure vessels with D-section bolts and several kinds of sealing elements. The loads of its key components were described as well. The theoretical design equations and stress strength checking formula of key components were introduced. Design three sizes (inner diameter:φ700mm,φ1000mm,φ1500mm) of the devices based on the theoretical design equations and stress strength checking formula. Calculated the numeric values of strength check and created three-dimensional finite models based of C-ring by ANSYS, the model was different from any one in the research of connection with flanges and bolts before, the threads of D-section shearing bolts, head and flange were created in the three-dimensional finite models. As a result, the stress strength of D-section shearing bolts, the head and top flange could be calculated more effectively. In additional, the compatibility of deformation of the whole structure could be described more easily, the loads of the key components were verified. At the same time, the resilience values of C-ring after application of pressure were calculated for testing the performance of the sealing component.In additional, this text established three-dimensional finite model of different connection that the cut plane of D-section shearing bolt paralleling to the radical of the cylinder. The stressing distribution of top flange, D-section shearing bolts and the head were calculated, we can see that the flange of head containing much concentrated loads. Therefore, additional stress checking is necessary if recommending such connection mode. As to the case of the cut plane of D-section shearing bolts vertical to the radical of the cylinder, this paper calculated the strengths of D-section shearing bolts, top flange and the head minutely. We discovered that the position of risk section calculated by finite analysis were mostly consistent with the results deduced by theoretical formula. So the accuracy of the theoretical formula were verified. After comparing the finite analysis results with theoretical calculation, we find out that the theoretical formula could check the stress strengths of the key components effectively. Consequently, providing the theoretical laws to the engineering application and design.
