Automobile,as a sort of convenient transportation tools,plays a very import role in human's everyday life. With the rising of people's living condition level,it calls for moreneeds at the appearance and shape of a automobile. In order to meet people 'sneeds and become competent in this strong market competition,the auto manufactory companies utilities new technology continuously as well as enhances the quality of products and decreases production costs. It is a revolution to utility digital technology in auto design,especially the integration application of three-dimensional CAX( CAD/CAM/CAE,etc)tech,VR tech,which lead the R&D of automobile to reach an outstanding high level.The development of new automobile products is the core and dificult point of automobile industry and the important link in strengthening the market competitiveness of enterprises, while the automobile plastic design in new product development is the bottleneck among the dificulties.This paper explains the application of digital tech in new automobile R&D,come up with the methods of some important and key tech and takes a vigorous reference in automobile R&B. The technology of auto design is a very important component of independent-develop capability of car design. Based on the analysis of the disadvantage to the traditional process of car body design,the paper provide a car design method based on digital informationalize technology. The planet of the digital technology was studied and developed.In addition,this paper explains the application of digital automobile plastic design technology in detailed,with the link of particular process of minicar R&D section,especially aiming at the use of 3D application Alias and Showcase. Alias and Showcase were different from most 3D applications, Alias's unique capabilities address in 2D or 3D sketching,dynamic shape modeling, photo-real,interactive visu-alization,etc.And Showcase can provide photo- real. These 3D applications can provide you with real-time feedback and design communication capabilities without the time and expense of physical prototypes. For these capabilities,designer can concentrate on product of modeling design but tools.In the first part of this paper,we talk about the traditional method and digital informationalize technology,and mainly discuss the process based on the digital informationalize technology. Meanwhile,in this part, we discuss the planet of the digital technology. In the second part,we give a minicar design example.
