Combining with a practical project sample, this paper focuses on analyzing the influence of beam-column node rigid zone on structures with transition stories, as well, promotes equivalent-section method to analyze transifer structures without changing seismic force affect on the whole building.Modern tall buildings often have complicated shape and are required to be multi-functional, as a result, transifer-story structure is wildly used to adapt to this trend. Usually, transition members have large size of cross sections because they are loaded very heavy weight, carrying over ten floors even decades of floors above them. At present, two structural modeling system programs for tall buildings' calculation have been widely accepted. One is structure system composed of bars and thin-walled bars, for example, TAT and TBSA. Another is structure system composed with bars and wall-member or shell-member, for instance, SETWE and TUS, etc. However, in both of the two programs, columns and beams are simplified as bars. This hypothesis is correct for general structures when normal cross-section heights of frame beams are 0.5m to 0.9m. While, for transifer story structures, this bar modeling system could bring out great error. Certain companies promoted plane limit-unit program according to the requirements of national codes in order to analyze transition beams further. But this plane-analyzing method is not proper for transition beams and upper members which are spatial loaded structures. So plane limit-unit program can not provide regular and reliable result, sometimes the final data even seems ridiculous. Limited by the present development of technology, to invent spatial limited-unit analyzing program still has a long way to go. Therefore, how to consider the influence of node rigid zone on transition-story structures based on the existing computer program become realistically meaningful. This paper also provides basic equations of equivalent-section method and its applying arrange as a reference for similar projects.
