The core objective of the performance-based fire-protection design for buildings is to insure that personnel can evacuate safely from buildings where are in fire. The practical performance-based fire-protection design can't be separated from scientific research methods. We have been able to use computer simulation to research personnel evacuation in performance-based design and many evacuation models have been already used. But the availability of these models needs discuss further. First, they generally don't take into account the decision-making process of personnel and the real time action of fire environment impacts on the behavior of personnel. Moreover, this is the key section to establish evacuation model on the base of fire. Then, the evacuation has obvious randomness, but current research mostly adopts qualitative analysis methods.In view of this, we need platform to couple evacuation simulation and fire simulation in order to reflect the function of evacuation. Thus, it is possible to establish evacuation on base of fire.First of all, the article introduces the theory of evacuation and on the base of that uses FDS+Evac software to study the personnel evacuation behavior in building fire. The main jobs of this text are as follows:(A) Traditional performance-based design method is used to set fire scene firstly and then uses FDS5 software to research. The text analyzes the danger coming time of fire scene under two conditions of ventilation. According to compare the traditional criterion which includes RSET,ASET and visibility esc, the text evaluates the fire scene which sets in personnel-intensive places.(B) Aiming at the deficiency of traditional performance-based design, the text simulates the personnel evacuation under fire and uses FDS+Evac software to mainly study the influence on personnel evacuation caused by fire. By studying the influence on personnel evacuation of vary building structure forms during the process of evacuation, the text analyzes the beneficial or harmful factors caused by them. The text studies the influence on evacuation efficiency about different persons by studying the characteristic of persons using the buildings.(C) The text brings forward the new performance-based design methods and adopts the cumulation toxicity FED value as new criterion of performance-based design and combines the evacuation condition to improve the traditional performance-based design. It brings up reference methods for plans of building fire-protection design and evacuation rehearse scheme.
