Study On Protection Of Topographical Advantages Of Chang'an City In Sui-Tang Periods

Based on the protection of culture heritage and Urban Planning, the thesis studies the protection of topographical advantages of Chang'an City in Sui-Tang Periods to find the real meaning of the topographical advantages in Chinese ancient cities, and then to study the elements of topographical advantages of Chang'an City in Sui-Tang Periods. Meanwhile, the thesis summarizes the challenges and opportunities for protecting the topographical advantages of Chang'an City in Sui-Tang Periods through the study on the current situation and provides the corresponding protecting methods to perfect the protection of the Chang'an City in Sui-Tang Periods.On the basis of study on the historical documents of the Chang'an City in Sui-Tang Periods, the thesis generalizes the elements of topographical advantages of Chang'an City in Sui-Tang Periods as the natural environment layer and Urban design layer, and analyzes the elements of these two layers. Through the field survey and literature research, the heritage of the topographical advantages of Chang'an City in Sui-Tang Periods owes to the following four elements: LongShou plateau and South Mountain, southeast and southwest directions, eight rivers and aqueducts, and six high slopes. Besides, the thesis researches each of the four elements. To protect the culture heritage, the thesis emphasizes on the protection of the surrounding environments and proposes three layers to protect the topographical advantages of Chang'an City in Sui-Tang Periods, which are macro (city), middle-level (area), and micro (site and architecture). The aim is to protect the historical and cultural information of "topographical advantages" as complete as possible, and exert the important effect in modern city.Through the research, this thesis brings three new ideas on the composing of the topographical advantages of Chang'an City in Sui-Tang Periods, researches the actuality of site and probes into the method of protection, and adds new substance to the research of protecting the Chang'an City in Sui-Tang Periods.
