With the rapid development of human society, more power demand with even more high quality is needed. So, it is an essential task for power utilities to keep power system operation stabile, reliable and economical. Based on the technology of modern electron and communication, computer supervisory system (CSS) is the kernel of the Energy Management System (EMS) in modern power system. In this thesis, we perform a deep study on computer supervisory system used in the substation of transmission system (abbr. SCSS). The SCSS architecture, function design and interface to GPS devices are deeply discussed. The main work of this thesis is as following:Firstly, the development and application of SCSS in power system are briefly reviewed. The user demand and future trend of SCSS are discussed, which is very important to develop a useful supervisory system.Secondly, sampling module for AC parameters in SCSS is deeply discussed. Some algorithms used in the sampling module, such as algorithm for steady state variable monitoring, harmonic determining and unbalanced variable analyzing are introduced. Further, DSP (digital signal processor) is employed to construct the hardware of the sampling module.Thirdly, interface with GPS system and architecture of the communication module used in SCSS are further discussed. With the help of GPS and a unique time scale, the analysis preciseness of SCSS can be highly improved. Also, a stable communication module is very important for the SCSS application. Some key functions of the communication module are analyzed in this thesis.Computer supervisory system for substation is the essential part of the modern EMS/SCADA system. With the development of computer, communication, electron technology and user demand, more and more research works will emerge in future.
