CAD/CAM System Development Of Planner Disc Cam Based On LabVIEW

CAD/CAM technology, a kind of booming modern design and manufacture method, coming with the rapid development of computer and its peripheral equipment, is matured and applied widely in mechanical engineering field day by day, which takes shorter developing period and higher machining accuracy.The key technology of cam mechanism is the design and manufacture of the cam profile. The application of CAD/CAM will improve the accuracy instead of the traditional imprecise ways in modern high-speed and precision cam design and manufacture. Many cam CAD/CAM systems have been developed and applied to mechanical engineering; therefore, there are some defects in the existing cam parts CAD/CAM systems, which make them promoted and applied unavailably. Thus, studying, developing and perfecting the cam CAD/CAM system is one of the main developing directions of cam mechanism design.With cam design arithmetic and the modular principle, the planner disc cam CAD/CAM system was developed by using LabVIEW 8.2. In the CAD modular, it is possible to generate the corresponding position of a rotating cam after inputting basic parameters, check the press angle and curvature radius, and output cam profile shape and several curves such as replacement, velocity, acceleration and press angle. In the simulation modular, two-dimensional precise cam mechanism movement can be simulated. While in the CAM modular, not only the precise cam profile data can be saved, but also the output DXF/NC/DAT documents can be used in AuotoCAD 2005 and UG NX4 to do the 2D/3D modeling and simulated machining. What's more, the help documents system, developed with HTML Help Workshop makes the system easy to use, and the Remote Panel function makes remote networking possible.With the integration of design, simulation, manufacture and network visit of this planner disc cam CAD/CAM system, data-share has been implemented properly, working efficiency of design and manufacture has been improved greatly and the cost has been reduced sharply. Above all, the system is of favorable practicability.
