The Analysis Of Architectural Artistic Forms Of Taoist Temples In Shanxi Province

China,one of countries with ancient civilizations in the world, has its own ancient civilization, which is all-embracing and permanent. In the new times of approaching modernization, it is of great importance to know the excellent civilization of the past and to creat the new culture for the future. The civilization of China is broad and profound, and it is just like a big tree with vigorous root and thick leaves. Taoism is a branch of this big tree, furthurmore, Taoist buildings are the fruits of this tree. Its architectural artistic forms deserve our attention. ShanXi is a historical province which has a lot of historical relics. There are nearly 18,000 ancient builings in ShanXi. And in most of these buildings, there are many additional cultural relics, such as wood, brick, stone carrings, clay sculptures and fresloes etc. Also there are many Taoist buildings among them. These historical resources have provided plentiful evidence and convenience for research. The regional culture in ShanXi is characteristic, and its folk ways and folk customs are different from other places. Taoist buildings reflect these features, especically in ShanXi Province.Reading and researching the interrelated field literatures, getting the basic materials by looking up books, magzines, county annals and Internet, making a social investigation, I select some representative buildings of Taoism in ShanXi to investigate and analyse, furthurmore , I do some on-the-spot investigations to these buildings. This thesis mainly focus on the research of Taoist buildings. First, it interprets the creation and development of Taoism and Taoist buildings and expounds the concept of architectural artistic forms of Taoist buildings and the history of Taoism in ShanXi Province. Then it analyses the enviromental art, stylistic art and decorative art of ShanXi Taoist Temples in detail according to the far-to-near space procedure. When it interprets the artistic paterns of different parfs of Taoist temples, it also gives us many examples which are well-known, such as YongLe Palace and JinCi Temple etc. At the same time, it also shows us other examples which are unknown for us, such as TaiFu Temple, DouShu Temple, XianWeng Temple etc. The purpose of doing this is to let us know the various artistic forms of ShanXi Taoist Temples better. At last, the aim of this thesis is to give us a full undertanding about the artistic forms of ShanXi Taoist Temples. After we analyse these valuable historical treasures which are left by our ancestors, we should realize that we must protect these treasures and most important, we should do our best to make these cultural heritages inexhaustible in supply and always available for us.
