| History block is the intangible cultural heritage of China which has been inherited for many years, after generations of prosperity, there is a long history affect in the city . As an important component of the a traditional city, it is the primary role of the historical district that connects the factors within the organic whole in the city and organizes the city's traffic system effectively. As a form of external space, its role is carrying residents of economic activities and the stage of cultural life in socity. as the leading element of city imaganation , historical district is the major means . Today, many of the urban commercial walking street still has the traditional historical district and the pattern of spatial characteristics, it can not only to adapt to modern city life and business model, and can be saved and accumulated in the process of profound humanity and rich business climate, while allowing it to play a role in the human landscape,if these historical block can be protected properly and used reasonablely.This paper takes the history of Shanxi block in Shanxi as an example, starting point of its spatial structure, elements, morphological characteristics, it was divided into seven chapters to discuss the culture of Shanxi continuation of the existing historical district and the morphological characteristics, proposing for the protection and the continuity of the means.The introduction of this article proposes the problems, clarifying the definition of Historic Districts, pointed out that the development of managers in Shanxi maked the blocks own more history characters, and then analyzed its characteristics, as well as the content involved in the research, and the research on the history course , introduces the account of the classification and its related theories, and and focus on the analysis of the methods and research tools.From a whole view , the second chapter analysises the formation and type of the history and culture blocks in shanxi, pointing out that the historical neighbourhood network structure adaptability, as well as natural or artificial formation of the principle followed by the planning and ideas. It intertates the basic network of the block comprehensively.Chapter III of this article discusses the feature of the space of the block and the space-scale feature, putting out that different spatial scales will produce different psychological feelings, delicately discusses what is the best space layout, summing up the means and the standards in the place of traditional alleys, scene taken by the architecture.From the micro level of historical blocks , Chapter IV starts at of the elements of space construction and landscape, analysising on the streets and constitute elements, and the characters of elements which most impacted on the neighbourhood, using an example among the practical application of further historical and cultural blocks for the analysis of space research.Chapter V devotes to morphological features of the historical blocks a detailed analysis, focusing on the street as well as its form of planar elements, space and aesthetic beauty of the form of the organizational principles, and illustrates the sequence of the formation of space and the general portfolio format.Through the previous chapters analysis of the blocks, Chapter VI puts out the protection and urgency of the historical streets, analysises the traditional alleys of space in the new system under the external environment facing the problem, and puts out the protection measures and development sustainable roads.Chapter VII makes a brief summary of the history of Shanxi though studying on the blocks with a number of experience.
