Between Contemporary Art And Modern Landscape Architecture In The Western World

Art always possesses an important position in landscape architecture. In ancient times, classic gardens cannot cut apart from classic paintings and classic sculptures, and modern landscape architecture has appeared a concise form affected by modern art in early 20th century. After 1960 decade, contemporary art raised a query of abstract and authority in modern art, and became considerable art trials in the question of what is the essence of art. The thoughts and concepts were greatly liberated in this period, therefore produces abundance of art fruits more than any time in history. This thesis focuses on the introduction of the three styles of contemporary art which is Pop Art, Minimalism and Conceptual Art, analyzes their concept and characteristic, and atomizes their influence on landscape design. Moreover, it analyzes the possibility of integration of Land Art and Landscape Architecture with living examples in apart. Finally it gives summarize of art pursuance and status of art in landscape architecture.
