Western modern art is progressing towards on appropriate and independent language of its own, among which modern painting art is, with no doubt, the most dramatic. In the progressing of its, modern painting art has become the sources of the related arts' inspiration and innovation, Western modern landscape architecture has gotten influenced by it inevitably. The relationship of modern painting and western modern landscape architecture should be acknowledged.It is on this cognition that the thesis illustrates the classical gardens, as well as the designers' philosophy in the western classical landscape paintings' background. To do so, the thesis analyzes and discusses the main characters of modern painting art and western modern landscape architecture. Standing on these, it can be seen that western modern landscape architecture has borrowed many principles and inspirations from modern painting art. The most obvious two are: concept and new style. Nonetheless, modern landscape architecture excels in broad areas: artscapes, organic design, the high corporate mode and pubic works. Western modern landscape architecture transfixes us still.As we face the economic and environmental concerns of the future, western modern landscape architecture may be viewed as an imperative. In search anew of simplicity, we may derive fresh lessons from the messages of modernism. Based on these above, the thesis makes a deeper understanding about western modern landscape architecture's forms and the creators' philosophy. Take a whole perceive on creativity in terms of cultural, formal and context aspects. Then give a juvenile further expatiation on the relationship between art and landscape architecture.
