The long-span spatial structures are landmark buildings, its seismic performance direct bear on people's lives and economic losses. So studying on shells in the earthquake under the dynamic response, and implementing damping reliable measures of protection is very important. Shell structure is usually having a small damper on earthquake and other vibration sensitive load, sometimes in larger vibration, affect the structure of the normal use and safety, So the vibration control to the shell structure is very important. In recent years emerging a new energy dissipation technology,that is, energy dissipation components and structure common withstand seismic, common storage and consumption of seismic energy, coordinate and reduce the structural response. It has become one of the major developing direction of seismic research project. Damper is a special component devoting to consumption of earthquake energy in structure. Arrangement of dampers in the structure rationally can consumption of most of the earthquake energy in structure, reducing the displacement of structure, improve and upgrade the seismic performance of structure. In this paper, systematically expounded the working principles of viscous damper, motion differential equation for seismic reduction structure and time history analysis. Time history analysis is one of commonly used analysis methods. When local nonlinear and other elastic in structure, the equation can be solved with fast nonlinear analysis (FNA) method. In this paper, FNA is expounded in detail. In this paper, analyzing earthquake resistant performance of 60m-span Kiewitt double-layer spherical shell with Sap2000 finite element analysis software. Inputing EL Centro, Taft, Lanzhou earthquake waves in model, certificating the shock absorption properties of the viscous dampers. Comparative analysis optimization scheme of arrangement position and quantity of dampers in the shell. And studying on the law of shock absorption with different damping coefficients C and different damping exponents a, obtaining some research achievements. The results show that there are optimal value in damping coefficients and different damping exponents, it could up to ideal shock absorption effects when selecting the reasonable Numeric. This paper summarizes the research results and proposed some further researching subject.
