The long-span spatial reticulated shell structure has the advantages of good work performance,reasonable force,large using space, bold appearance, simple manufacture and installation, low cost, and has been widely used in public buildings. However, the shell structure has dense, complex vibration type and small self vibration frequency. It is a typical long period structure.At the same time,the long period component of strong ground motion has the risk of resonating with the reticulated shell structure. The structure is easily a ffected by the earthquake and other vibration load and may generate larger vibration, which posing a threat to the safety and normal use of the structure.Therefore,it is necessary to study it’s motivation response under seismic action,and do seismic design objectivly and reasonably.The traditional seismic method of large span structure is setting laminated rubber bearings on the bearing. This material is easy to aging, trouble to replace and difficult to construct, which seriously limits its application in engineering. It is usually to set the dampers in the structure.Energy dissipation components and structures subjected to seismic action, consuming the earthquake energy to coordinate and reduce the structural response. Because the main component of reticulated shell structure is a steel pipe, this topic is from the earthquake itself of steel pipe and put forward a kind of new steel dampers based on traditional dampers- “variable stiffness steel pipe damper”. The energy dissipation device is composed of arc-shaped steel rods and other components and have certain ability of energy dissipation.This topic futher study it’s performance by using ANSYS finite element software based on the experiment of the energy dissipation device and analyze the effect of the section size,curvature radius on the force characteristics. Apply the energy dissipation device to a spherical latticed shell, input seismic wave and use time history analysis method to analyze the effect of optimization scheme of different number and arrangement on the damping performance of the shell structure. Some beneficial conclusions are obtained, which laid the foundation for the application of the energy dissipation device in engineering.
