Nowadays location and navigation system is broadly used in every field, such as GPS in vehicle, position system in mobile. But the research on information system that how to provide location and navigation information with passengers to find the destination quickly and exactly in public station especially in comprehensive interchange station is still in the first stage. The French working group AFNOR/BNEVT/CN03/GT7 (mirror of European group CEN/TC278/WG3/SG7) highlighted the need of standardizing locating for public transport in France, so the group establishes the standard of Identification of Fixed Objects in Public Transport (IFOPT). And the development of location and navigation in public station has been begun based on the standard.The dissertation firstly introduces the background of research on IFOPT and development of location and navigation system in public station, which is based on status of urban railway transportation in France. And then state three standards of traffic data transmission referring to IFOPT. Following present the standard of IFOPT in details which is the information modal to build a physical structure of station by UML. This dissertation aims to the first stage development of IFOPT to set up a website for the communication of the developer and a basic database. In the last, the paper introduces the situation of Shanghai Urban Railway Transportation, and possibility of application of IFOPT in Shanghai Urban Railway System.
