Recent years with a great deal of new material ,thin shell and allotype parts have been widely used in the space product, NC machines have been popularized in space manufacturing ;while the NC tools become important in the machining of new material thin shell and allotype parts. But when the factory plans to batch the new product, the heavy cost of the tools likes a lion in the way. For the tool cost accounts for large part of the manufacturing cost and there is never any systematic and quantitative calculation and analyze about the tool cost. and there are not any effective measures to cut down the cost. The purpose of this problem research is to show how to use the tools efficiency, reduce the tools cost and perfect the management. In this research, at the beginning the writer gives brief analyze of the importance of the tool management and applies lean product 6δin controlling tools cost according to Plato 20/80 principle. In the paper, firstly, it introduces the lean product 6δand the tools; secondly, analyze the management of the tools life and cost construct at the basis of the product life cycle management; thirdly, use SIPOC means to assay the process of application of the NC tools. The writer found out that the key reasons effected the cost by means of IPO analytical method, causation matrix picture, Plato principle and FEMA way.In the following research, it optimizes the explanation of the key reasons and makes further improvement as well as integrative management of the tools. Finally, from April to September in 2006, the improved processing were used in X subassembly. The result is very exciting, which shows that it is much meaningful for reducing the cost to improve the use of the tools.
