After six consecutive speed-up about china railway, the reliability of the braking device to train running safety plays an increasingly prominent role. It is imperative to research and design fault diagnosis system of diesel locomotive brake. In this paper, the structure, working principle and the characteristics of pneumatic transmission of JZ-7 diesel locomotive brake are analyzed in detail. Because JZ-7 diesel locomotive brake owns various valves, intricate pipelines and complicated control relationships, it is divided into several monitoring units in relatively independence. The paper analyzes common fault characteristics of the valves, selects the feature data of air pressure and its changed speed to carry on real-time detection, and applies analysis method of fault tree to creat fault tree of the brake, it provides a theoretical basis for research and design of fault diagnosis system. On this basis, combining with the actual working environment of JZ-7 diesel locomotive brake, the paper designs the hardware and software and researchs and develops the fault diagnosis system. Finally, test results based on physical test equipment are also presented. The test results prove that this system does not affect the original braking performance and structure of diesel locomotive and can detect and diagnose just-in-time the faults of main valves. This system also can record and display working conditions of the brake and provide an effective method for locomotive crew to get rid of the faults rapidly.
