The container crane is an important handbarrow of the containers in the harbor. As the accelerated development of worldwide logistics, the development of container freight has been driven greatly. As a result, it is necessary to advance the design and production efficiency of container crane. The crab on the container crane is one of the main parts as a function of rising and swing. Its design is maturity and series, so it is very significative to advance the design level and efficiency on the chance of improving the company's competition.The engineers mostly use 3D engineering software to design productions parametrically. But this kind of software pays attention to universality, so it may not think about the convenience and efficiency when using it to design the specific productions. Now it receives more attention to develop the software for specific products.This paper firstly made sure the main technical parameters and dimensions, and established connection and actuation relations, then introduced a method that Solid Edge had been developed by ActiveX Automation. And the technique of designing the crab of the container crane parametrically based on Solid Edge has been realized. The man-machine interface which can be operated expediently was constituted by Visual Basic6.0. In addition, the system encapsulated ANSYS, which can be used to optimize the section of girders to reduce the volume of material.The developed system in this paper has been used in the company. It helped this company respond the market demands rapidly and improve the company's competition capacity greatly.
