The landscape architecture in our country has been influenced by our traditional culture and spirits. It had been well known throughout the world for its style which is based on nature, superior to nature. Today, with the advancement of our science and economy, facing the ecological and environmental problems, we should explore the truth again in our traditional gardening arts, direct our modern plants landscape architecture according to ecological characteristics and cultural allegory and pay attention to the improvement of ecological environment and human space. Thus some explorative researches have been conducted home and aboard, and some beneficial results have been put forward.LuChaogang Ha rbour City will be one of the major assistant cities in Shanghai in the near future, which is the political ,economic and cultural center in Nanhui District. After ten-year period of construction, a modern and open coastal city will be put up near the coast of the East Sea. This passage will analyze some key elements that will affect the growth of plants in the harbour city, such as temperature, sun light, soil, moisture and organism, working out some names of plants which can be adapted to this coastal area. Meanwhile, combining with the cultural elements in this city, I will conduct a research into the allocation of plants in different green space including seaside park, public green space, subordinate green space ,coastal protection forest, and put forward some characteristics of the construction of landscape with different plants . At last,based on it, some typical allocation patterns will be recommended.This essay emphasizes the styles of the construction of plants landscape with local characteristics, we must make a further research into the traditional and modern ways of garden making, and put the ideas into practice so that a new open harbor city with local style of plants landscape can be displayed in public.
