Well known that Constructions is art of space, Space is leading actor of construction. Recent years, people come to be aware the importance of combination of construction and environment. With doubt of after modern times construction style to modern design ideas, many people pay more attention to"reversion"and"site spirit". Using theory of semeiology, the paper concludes characters of traditional construction sign in JiangNan area, futher more, it apples all above to sight design in JiangNan with tact of transmuting and abstracting that represents parochial characters ,historical inheritance and integration of construction and surrounding environment.In chapter 2, researching background and buildup of traditional construction sign of local habitation in JiangNan area, analyzing it from 3 aspects, such as framework, ornamental (including inside, outside and detailed fitment) and space.In chapter 3, with several cases, researching others constructions'characters except JiangNan area and bringing forward ideas how to realizing it. In chapter 4, based on all above,deeply researching folk-custom of White Pub walking street in Nanjing which involved design plan, traditional characters of local habitation construction sign inside and outside, unification of sight with Confucius Temple.In chapter 5, stating traditional local habitation characters such as continuity, variation ,integration and beyond present,by summing-up different designing tact such as"outwardly optimizing","abstracting and variation".In the end, by comparing and analyzing, paper concluds principles, idea and tact in designing of traditional construction sign.
