Study On Architecture Culture With Shanxi Merchants Guildhall

The Shanxi merchants who were once well-known all over the world had a glorious history. In many places of our country there have many impressive-looking and magnificent Shanxi merchants guildhall that built by them, and these buildings became the significant patrimony of the Shanxi merchants history culture.Guildhall is a complicated synthesis. As one of the important public architecture in Ming Qing dynasty, the guildhall reflected various factors including social politics, economy, life style etc. The Shanxi merchants guildhall has many especial forms and culture connotations, it is as the especial architecture engendered under especial economic system built by the special colony. This article not only see about the Shanxi merchants guildhall through the research of the history evolving of Shanxi merchants and one's own historical evolution, But also summarizes the genesis and the development of this public architecture. This article also studies the pattern and characteristic of distribution and its especial functions and reveals the culture connotation behind its architectural forms. Therefore, it will be valuable historical materials to enhance people's understanding the history and culture of Shanxi merchants.Meanwhile, based on the examples of this research and related literature, the thesis studies on the group architecture of remained Shanxi merchants guildhalls in the central part plain region of China, and summarizes the characteristic of the plane function, space modality, structure technology and decorative arts etc. The mass of the Shanxi merchants guildhalls are depredating or using incorrect, so we hoping this article can arouse the consciousness to protect these testimony of history of Shanxi business culture, and renew the history.
