The market of the railway transportation has the fierce competition in nowday, high-speed railway is the railway's developmental trend. The high-speed train (EMU) holds the extremely important position in the high-speed railway technology, and how to lighten the load bearing structure of the car body become an indispensable part. The lightening design of the car body structure is realized by using light-structural materials and reasonable design.In this paper, the head-vehicle car body of CRH5 made by Changchun railway vehicles co,.Ltd and the properties of aluminum-alloy material are introduced. And the car body structure is analyzed by FEM. Frist, set up body structure finite element model by using the drawings provided by the factory. Then, analyzed the car body FE model by ANSYS under static load case, fatigue load case, inertial load case, air strength load case and so on, twenty-first load cases, according to EN12663, to get the stress distribution of car body. At last, based on the analysis of whole car-body, the submodeling analysis method is used to study the local stress concentration and stress distribution of the improtant positions, such as the conner of driver door. The results provides the foundation for the rational design of the car-body structure.The paper also discussed some problem, such as the pracitical simplification of complicated structure, the disposal of constraint and loading, the conncetion of different kinds of elements, and the application scope and the skill of the sub-modeling method. Those discussions can provide the reference and beneficial help, for the FEA which uesd many kinds element of complex and huge structure. Successfully applied sub-modeling method in finite element analysis of aluminum-alloy car-body structure, and bring out a practical method for analysis of the car-body structure henceforth. The method can satisfy the engineering request, and save computing time.
