Based on the features and state of the art of the control of auxillary systems and FGD systems in thermal power plants, the paper suggests that it's not possible to improve control performance of auxillary system and FGD system by means of traditional DCS products after analysis and demonstration. To improve the control performances, the application of integration architecture and fieldbus in the control of auxillary systems and FGD systems in a power plant is an inevitable result. Several feasible solutions to implement auxillary system control and their inherent defects are presented.The development vision of auxillary systems in a power plant, and the Rockwell integration architecture technology are also illuminated. The control merits of integration architecture to control auxillary systems and FGD system in a power plant, which is based on the ControlLogix control platform, NetLinx communication network, ViewAnyWare human-machine interface, as well as FactoryTalk enterprise real-time data exchange technology. The advanced ControlLogix control system is chosen to be used for the control of the auxillary systems and FGD systems in the third issue 2×300 MW units of Shiheng Power Plant, which is absolutely suitable for the need of the units. It's proved by practice that it not only guarantees the safe and economical operation of the units, but also saves a great deal of investment in infrastructure.
