With microelectronic technology, computer technology, software technology, network technology and the development of the high technology and electronic measurement instruments, the application of new testing theories, and new testing methods, and new testing areas, as well as new device structures continue to emerge. In many ways, the traditional concept of the equipment has been to break, electronic measuring equipment function and role has undergone a qualitative change.In the field of modern test, test methods and test equipment technology are becoming more demanding. In the mean time, it also requires that the test system should be developed with shorter development cycles, lower costs and higher quality. It is more and more important about the study of the automotive meter test system, for the automotive meter is the message changing window between drivers and cars ,also is the main part of modern high technology in the automotive industry.Based on the analysis and research of the automotive meter test system at home and abroad, the virtual testing system of automotive meter was developed in this paper. The computer hardware resources was blended together with the instrument hardware through software methods, based on the application of Virtual Instrument technology, component technology, graphics processing and technology, database technology. Through that the developing cost of hardware and equipment volume can be reduced a lot, because it is the combination of the computing powerful of computer, the measurement capacity of hardware and equipment and control capability.It realizes the test data analog, digital, real-time display, storage and analysis through object-oriented programming approach C + + BUILDER, which makes the foundation for deep study on virtual instrumentation of automotive meter in the future.
