The Practice & Thought To The Block Of Modernized Hospital Buildings

Hospital is one of the most familiar places for people in modern society. We are born in hospitals and wherein we die. Living in the contemporary society with advanced technology, human beings are still holding a feeling in the aspect of an unpredictable safety, meanwhile they are hoping to get shielded in spirit and relieved in ailment.Hospital architecture is one of the most complex public architectures for most architects because hospital architecture defines its strict spacial orders and functional requirements , which is emphasizing the importance of rational thinking in architecture itself. At the same time, hospital architecture is a public architecture that updates itself fastest than others do. The range of knowledge involving in it is far beyond architect can grasp.The idea is the same as that the developing of a residenc block. The development can be represented as follows: The new plan for the renewal and extension of a hospital in downtown can be realized by renting the smaller blocks nearby. To reach the purpose of making the hospital block-like, we keep the original density of the roads, use corridors, connectors or underground architecture to fulfill the functional requirements of the hospital.The main function of the hospital block is to provide medical service. Thus, even if after the improvement of a new plan, the block should continue its main functional character for medical service to gain certain social and economic profit.This article starts from the history of hospital architecture, analyzing the developments and changes of hospital architecture. It conducts some research on the current hospital architecture and prompts a new thought from the aspect of architecture design. It also explains the tendency of changes and development in the future hospital architecture. Through a personal concrete project practice, it explores "the design of newly-modernized hospital architecture" by adapting to the future situation.
