| Generally,the size of canal cross section is calculated by the designed discharge, but when through the maximum discharge in channel while the water depth is not the biggest in experimental discovery. This paper systematically has studied the flow characteristics,which include the water depth behind the hydraulic jump, the location of the hydraulic jump, when flow pattern transforms downstream of the sluice in the rectangle channel. In the process of analysis, there were many variable factors metioned such as hydraulic head, H, in front of the sluice, the water depth of the hydraulic jump conjugate depth(h1,h2), the start location of hydraulic jump,x1, gate opening, e, discharge, Q, Channel bottom slope i, and etc. Both different kinds of bottom slope and discharge were considered in the course of the combination experiment consist of different factors. The results has shown that the water depth behind hydraulic jump was closely related to gate opening and discharge as well as Channel bottom slope.Through comprehensive analysis, the main conclusions and findings were obtained as the flowing:(1)When the gate opening was a certain value and the discharge was 85 to 95% of the largest one , the water depth behind the hydraulic jump reached the maximum value.(2)When hydraulic head in front of the sluice was a certain value, the water depth behind the hydraulic jump firstly increased and then decreased with the discharge increament and it reached the maximum value when the discharge is 85 to 95% of the largest one.(3)The calculation formulas of the water depth behind the hydraulic jump and the start location of hydraulic jump have been obtained, and they can be referred by the actual engineering. |
