Flow got through hydraulic structure usually have a higher velocity, and has obvious destructive power to the lower couch. Energy dissipation and scour protection of outlet structures especially with high head and large discharge is one of the most important problem for designer to solve. Common of elimination can assorted by high-speed mainstream of location and state and divided into energy dissipation by bottom flow hydraulic jump, and energy dissipation of ski jump type, and energy dissipation of surface regime and so on. Due to energy dissipation by hydraulic jump effect is significantly, refers to high, middle and low head various discharge buildings and various foundation conditions, as a basic of energy dissipation type, hydraulic jump dissipation has widely application in China. Stilling basin types can generally be divided into flat-bottom and slopes in two categories, according to topography, geology and hydraulic conditions, and be selected through technical and economic comparison.Stilling basin with upstream expansive slope is well adapted to project demands, its diffusion body and hydraulic jump make the energy dissipation effect well and be adapted to water level changes in downstream. The energy dissipation effect of stilling basin with upstream expansive slope is good, it can protect the downstream slope and shorten the length of stilling basin. In the practical project, stilling basin with upstream expansive slope has a relatively wide range of applications, such as hydropower station of Bulunkou, hydropower station of XIHE, etc. However, there are less researches about the hydraulic jump formula of stilling basin with upstream expansive slope.Combing hydraulic model experiment, we researched on the flow pattern of jump, length of jump, height of jump in different working conditions in this paper, and comparison and analysis are made on the conjugate water depth of flat rectangular type, upstream slope rectangular type and gradual expanded sloping type in the same condition of incoming flow. On the foundation of physical model experiment, we built 3D numerical model with standard k-? turbulent model and VOF model. Studied on the key character factors and velocity distribution of gradual expanded sloping jump. The simulate results are in accord with those in physical model experiments. After verifying the reliable of numerical model, we studied on the effective on hydraulic characters of stilling basin flow caused by different expanding angel of expanded slope.
