Suspension system is an important part for cars. In the modern automotive design, suspension is the most important part of automotive chassis ,also it is redesigned often in improving car model. Suspension has a decisive effect on car drivability and stability. Double wishbone suspension is one of the most wildly used independent suspensions.The purpose of this dissertation is to build the oriented mechanism knowledge system for double wishbone suspension expert system and use the knowledge to build expert system knowledge base, then the designer can build the double wishbone suspension expert system.First, this dissertation introduced some concepts of expert system, by collecting the knowledge of double wishbone suspension, designer summarized the basal knowledge and built the oriented mechanism system of theory knowledge; Second the dissertation built the front suspension system simulation model with the ADAMS/CAR software and simulated the parallel wheel analysis to verify the model; Thirdly by simulating the model that the dissertation had made , designer verified and modified the basal knowledge that the dissertation had built ; Finally the dissertation researched the oriented mechanism knowledge system that had been verified.The whole dissertation includes five chapters, and they are showed as:In chapter one, first the dissertation described the content and significance of double wishbone suspension research, reviewed the suspension growing history, and find out the state of suspension research. Especially it pointed out that our country was poor in suspension theory research, so we should make much work on developing suspension design system.Second ,this chapter introduced some basal knowledge about double wishbone suspension and the concept of expert system, especially to the characteristics,advantages and structure of expert system. Thirdly this chapter introduced the software ADAMS, especially to CAR and Insight. Finally this chapter introduced the main content of this article.In chapter two, first the dissertation introduced some concepts of knowledge, including its characteristics,sorts and how to obtain double wishbone suspension design knowledge .Second, by summarizing the knowledge that we have got, it built the double wishbone suspension oriented mechanism basal theory design knowledge initially. In the following work, it will verify and modify the knowledge mentioned to obtain the knowledge that suits expert system knowledge base.In chapter three, first the dissertation introduced the process of making and analyzing a suspension assembly with ADAMS/CAR. Including making the template,making the subsystem and making the suspension assembly. Finally by simulating the ADAMS/CAR assembly and watching the curves, it verified that the assembly was reasonable. The assembly is a way through which the dissertation verify the basal theory knowledge, so to make an assembly is required.In chapter four,first the dissertation introduced how to evaluate the suspension characteristics and the norms, and then it make the way to evaluate the suspension. Second, according to the knowledge that had been mentioned in the second chapter: how to arrange the upper-control arm and lower-control arm in flat vertical surface,flat horizontal surface,flat horizontal surface,the proportion of upper-control arm and lower-control arm and steering system disconnect point, it had a kinematics analysis with the assembly that it had made in the second chapter. According to the results it verified and modified the knowledge system to get the oriented mechanism knowledge system that suits expert system knowledge base.Chapter five is the summarization of this dissertation. In this chapter the dissertation depicted the main works, the result of research and the future direction of research.In conclusion ,the main works including: build the double wishbone suspension oriented mechanism theory knowledge system; build the double wishbone suspension assembly with ADAMS/CAR; verify and modify the double wishbone suspension oriented mechanism theory knowledge system to get the oriented mechanism knowledge system that suits expert system knowledge base.The advantages of this dissertation are: it is different from other dissertations that have a research on suspension design, because the contents talked in this dissertation can be used to design suspension oriented mechanism for different kinds of cars(different center of mass,wheel track,wheel base and so on), and it change the hard points during the research to suit the demands of changing the control arms arrange angles. This is different from other dissertations, because they move the hard points without thinking about why they do so. So its way is chose to mechanism on suspension design, but move the hard points merely.
