Presently the automobile industry in China is booming, but Chinese automobile enterprises are still weak in independent research and development. The competition among enterprises is ultimately the competition of management and technology. Therefore the outlet for Chinese automobile industry is to develop independent brand with independent key technology and improve self-development ability. In the process of automobile development, the important factors are information and virtualization, that is, the full-scale introduction of simulation techniques to realize the simulation in the entire process, the reduction of the number of testing and production cost, and the shortening of the development cycle of new cars, which altogether can ensure the improvement of enterprises'technique and competitive strength.The power steering technology has been one of modern vehicles' essential equipments which solve the"light"and"spirit"contradiction of vehicles. While the traditional methods are to raise the steering gear efficiency or to increase the steering gear ratio.Now although power steering system has the new tendency, such as the electrical hydraulic power steering (EHPS), the electrical power steering (EPS), the steer by wire (SBW) and so on. They are all developing vigorously. But the hydraulic power steering is still the main mode in the automobile power steering system until now. It has been applied for a long time and the technology was also quite mature. In the past they often took the reference vehicle as the main dependence target to select many ready-made hydraulic power steering systems. After that the subjective drivers would appraise if the system matching with the vehicle well or not. But there are some problems. First the feeling of the driver is not exactly and cannot respond its performance good or not completely. Besides, the appraisal only about several steering systems what you elected, and cannot accord to the actual circumstances making the performance best.This article basing on the CarSim software, through establishing vehicles model, not only solved the uncertainty from subjective feels, but also through optimizing and contrasting with the sign vehicle, achieved the performance to be more superior. Simultaneously it has provided the essential data for the pump and valve's making.We established two vehicles' models in CarSim in the second chapter of this article The reference car model establishment takes empirical datum as the foundation, while because without the prototype of the objective car, we gave the data origin of model. In order to confirm the accuracy of the model, we took the reference car as an example, and used returnability test data to compare with the simulation data. As a result we achieved the expectation effect.The third chapter we had analyzed and calculated the pump characteristic. First we calculated the maximal pressure of the pump separately by the experiment and the empirical formula. Next we had calculated pump's working flux. Finally we through model to determine the flux decrement under high speed.The fourth chapter is the analysis of the valve characteristic. The method was a new idea of mine. Firstly, through simplify the characteristic curve of reference car reasonably, and then we analyzed the curve by each section to determine the influence of each section in the entire power steering system. Finally above the overall evaluation of each section, we obtained a superior curve for the later simulation.The fifth chapter is the contrast of the tow cars by many simulations in the CarSim. This work was completed after determining the best curve, and put the curve to the model to carry on the simulation. At last, through many simulations we have achieved the anticipated effect, which was the object car better than the reference car.The sixth chapter is the summarization of the paper.
