Virtual Reality Application In The Simulation Design Of Main Control Room Of Nuclear Power Plant

Because of its verisimilitude, Virtual Reality (VR) technology has been widely applied in simulation field. Virtual reality in nuclear power plant (NPP) is gradually developing from the simple software of pure teaching in scene roaming to designing and scientific researching. Virtual simulation such as virtual maintenance, virtual operation, and virtual accident environment has appeared.Main aim of the study is using virtual reality and dynamic real-time parameters simulation in the same virtual scene in main control room (MCR) in nuclear power plant (NPP), realizing scene roaming, operation simulation and real-time display of operation parameters. Using effective integrating of many patterns, and simulating real scene in MCR of NPP and simulating operation of NPP for realizing whole scope virtual simulation in MCR of NPP.The study object of this paper is the MCR of Qinshan Nuclear Power Plant. The characteristics of instruments and main simulation elements in main control room (MCR) of nuclear power plant (NPP) are analyzed, and the Virtual scene and instruments are studied respectively. Key technology for realizing scope virtual simulation in MCR of NPP is solved. The virtual scene of MCR is built in EON Studio, while instrument simulation in MCR is performed by using GL Studio. Finally, virtual simulation system for MCR of NPP is developed,designing the integration of two kinds of simulations through the communication interface designed by VC compiler, realizing dynamic interaction between MCR virtual instrument with simulator. Range of simulation in NPP is enlarged. The new tool and platform are provided for the teaching, training and scientific research of NPP. The study has a good application prospect.
