Wheel loader is an imporant type of construction machinery.The quality and effect of the design of its working mechanism determine,to alarge extent,the working properties of the loader.Traditional design methods are no longer capable of solving complicated engineering problems.Nowadays, with the development an application of CAD technology and modem design methodlogy, especially optimization design, the design of construction machinery is becoming more and more automated and intelligent.Both working mechanism and modeling methodology are presented manifold.Using optimization modeling and design methods, the research work focuses on the following aspects:The kinematic analysis of the working mechanism has been made, getting conditions that must be satisfied during its operation, such as performance, working scope, efficiency, power transmitting properties, kinematic properties, geometric relations, strength, etc.On the modeling and optimization platform, models of two types of working mechanisms—reverse-turning six-bar linkage has been generated. Withvariables, objectives, and constraints determined respectively, the optimization design has been carried out. Characteristics and application scope of each type are analyzed and verified.For the revese-turning six-bar type, two modeling meyhods—mathematics and complex vector– are used in the optimization design. The optimal results are got respectively. Besides, a comparison of characteristics and efficiency between the two methods is made.
