Rapid development of MTR is the efficient approach to solve the traffic problems in metropolises. With the improvement of MTR network, operation organization and coordination of MTR hubs face more and more challenges than ever before. It's necessary of doing deeply study in MTR hubs to make sure they can play key roles in urban public transportation, which mainly focusing on optimization approach of hubs' designing and passenger flows' operation. This paper gives a brief introduction to MTR's development status and draws conclusion on the state-of-art in MTR hubs' planning and design research in China and abroad. Then it clarifies the significance of dynamic simulation design method in MTR hubs.Then the paper characterizes the traffic facilities in the hubs and analyzes their effects on the passenger flows deeply, combining with which it illustrates the static designing methodology of basic traffic facilities, generalizes the designing criterion of platform and other facilities systematically. Based on the qualitative analysis on these issues, quantitative analysis becomes the core of traditional static designing method.In order to utilize the dynamic simulation technique in the MTR hubs' designing, the next part of the paper demonstrates the applicability of this specific method. By comparison between static method and dynamic one, it concludes the dynamic simulation method's advantages premised on emphasizing the integration of these two methods. Using urban traffic organization controlling theory for reference, it engages in the analysis of two main passenger flows' spatial distribution characteristics in MTR hubs.The forth part is the core of the paper. It introduces the concept of set which concretes the facilities in hubs as nodes and models. Then, it establishes the space OD model based on flows' spatial distribution, set up passenger OD matrix and adjusting algorithm. Through implementation of specific simulation case, the correctness of the model and relevant algorithm is verified.
