With the rapid development of the computer and internet technology, as well as global procurement taking shapely, manufacturing with small batch and various types is being on the rise. However, statistics show that up to 95% time has been spent on delivery and transportation, which means that a great deal of products in process. Such circumstance causes two problems. Firstly, it occupies massive time and space of manufacturing enterprises. Secondly, the cash doesn't go around efficiently. Therefore, it is extremely essential for enterprises to pay full attention on how to make good use of limited resources, to improve product quality, to reduce cost and make immediate response to market requirements under pressure of fiercely market competition. Production planning and scheduling is the core of production and marketing management as well as the key technology which determines anticipated profits in complicated flexible manufacturing system. The purpose of it is to increase the resource utilization rate, to shorten manufacturing periods, to reduce stack in producing and to decline inventory by reasonable scheduling and control which leads to better quality, lower cost and higher efficiency.However, most methods of production planning and scheduling have simplified real-time manufacturing settings, which leads a gap between prototype system and its application. Hence, it is urgent and necessary to develop a production planning and scheduling system that could be used in real life with a comprehensive through of multiple objectives.The thesis aims to develop an effective production scheduling solution in combination of real-life situation, in form of structuring production live and flexible production unit by means of balancing and optimizing production resources according to production planning.The main tasks of the thesis are as follows: Studying and formalizing the models of the resource optimization balance, two different types of workshops are described, including job shop scheduling and flow shop scheduling. In order to get optimization, this thesis has used some algorithms, considering multi-production capacity model in large-scale flexible scheduling.In the flow shop study, combining heuristics rules and GA, while in the job shop study, using GA to solve the multi-process scheduling problem. The author developed prototype system using the computer language C# and based on .net platform. At last, this thesis uses case study and two examples to test the algorithms and the software system. The results have demonstrated the validation of optimization method of production resource balance and shown the effectiveness of the proposed methods to solve the large-scale problems.
