Discussion About Guangzhou Bus Rapid Transit On Zhongshan Avenue

The article analyzes the feasibility for the mode and the blueprint of Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) in Guangzhou, discussing the way to improve the integrated public transport system. In the background of rapid development of urban road along with the traffic congestion, air pollution and poor bus capacity, in order to accelerate the public transportation, Guangzhou is going to build BRT, aiming at achieving some routes before the Asian Games in 2010. The project impacts on traditional traffic and upgrades the urban road structure. The success of BRT in other countries over the world is introduced in this article, sharing their worthwhile experience on the structure of BRT. Secondly the course of developing public transport in our country is reviewed, of which the progress and shortcomings are both discussed. Then the current situation and problems of public traffic Guangzhou are analyzed. On the study of the principle of scientifically building BRT, the article has a feasibility analysis on the project of BRT in the Zhongshan Dadao Avenue, and shows the writer' s solution of urban road traffic. In the writer' s opinion, on the base of developing rail transportation and improving ordinary traffic, taking the advantage of the flexibility and the low cost, Guangzhou should build a rational BRT, which is the main role as well as the track traffic to serve the urban transportation.
