Mechanical seals are kinds of motive seals productions which are widely used in petrochemical industry. In this dissertation, a testing equipment, which was entrusted and also funded by Sinopec Zhenhai Refining&Chemical Company Limited ("ZRCC" for short), is developed in order to increase the operation time of mechanical seals, as well as to reduce the lost caused by fail of mechanical seals. The dissertation is arranged as follows:In chapter 1, the background of the development of the equipment is introduced briefly. The composing and the working principle of mechanicals are presented. The present research&developing on testing of mechanical seals and its testing equipment at home and abroad are reviewed. The designing objective and the chief research content are confirmed to satisfy the need of ZRCC and the related fields.In chapter 2, the design scheme of the testing equipment is made. Further, the design scheme is decomposed into two parts which are the body of the equipment and its testing system. The body of the equipment, which mainly consists of the medium-supply system, the driving mechanism and the sealed cavity structure, is designed in detail.In chapter 3, the composing of the electric parts of the testing system is presented. The primary rules to choose sampling devices and sensors are analyzed. The electric parts of the testing system are investigated and designed in detail.In chapter 4, the software for the testing system, which consists of signal sampling, signal processing, and saving and replay of the history data, is achieved by several programming theories. The theory of "producer-consumer" and multithreading are applied in the software for some real-time tasks, which enhance the reliability of the testing software.In chapter 5, experiments are used to show the process of the testing of the mechanical seals. The results of the experiments are analyzed to testify the feasibility of the design and the reliability of the equipment.In chapter 6, main achievements of the dissertation are summarized, and the further research works are put forward.
