With the inducement of market economy, there are large-scale urban construction, for example, increasing of the urban population continuously, absenting the land gradually, and promoting the extensive urban housing construction. Comprehensively, which bring many puzzling issues in China, especially in recent years since the open policy was carried out. On account of existing problems of traditional living patterns such as occupation of land wide, density heavy, volume rate low, Chinese traditional construction had to be replaced by standardize residential in such a process. Therefore, the city is losing its own label and personalized language unfortunately by virtue of the disappearance of the traditional inhabited. It's regret to inherit the culture of the city.Being the largest urban in centre of China, Wuhan also are facing the same bepuzzlement of traditional residential areas. So the paper herein is based on the Wuhan Lifen and focus on the issues of generation, evolution and the specific value of Lifen. Furthermore, the emphasis of study is the status quo and the ideas of protecting Lifen. What's more, the aim of study is to find an effective re-creation means for Lifen.First of all, the article explains the meaning of Lifen, expounds its emergence and evolution as time as the clues, and put forward its speciality and commonness.Secondly, the article analyzes the value of the habitation culture about Wuhan Lifen from the the texture value to humanistic value of them.Then, the paper proposes some opinions and suggestions about how to protect Lifen ,via analyzing the current situation of Lifen in Wuhan, and learing from the correlative theories and practice methods about the protection of the traditional living modality both at home and abroad.Finally, the paper discusses the way about how to re-create value of traditional neighborhood Lifen.
