| Contra-rotating fan has good prospects in its application which is widelyused in many industrial and engineering fields including mine ventilation, tunnelventilation, and so on. The design of the contra-rotating fan depends on empirical formulae,which result in low performance. With the improvement of computer and developmentof the computational technology, CFD technology is applied to simulate theunsteady turbulent flow in the whole flow passage, the real rules of the flowinside the contra-rotating fan is revealed. It will be helpful to the selectionof design method and construction parameter. It possesses higher theoreticsignification and engineering value.The RNGκ-εmodel is used to close the governing equations. The governingequations are discretized by finite volume method. Numerical simulation ofunsteady turbulent flow in the whole passage of the contra-rotating fan isperformed under different working conditions with a time-marching method and theSIMPLIC algorithm. CFD software is used to simulate some parameters such aspressure and velocity filed of the contra-rotating fan, under different flow rateand angle of incidence of wing.According to the simulation results, different types of flow phenomenaoccurred in the whole flow passage of the contra-rotating fan can be observed,and contra-rotating fan's operating performance under various workingconditions is also understood. The general rules of the flow are obtained. Thesimulation results coincide with those results obtained in the experiments tocontra-rotating fan. It shows that the numerical simulation results can providereferences for the operational performance prediction of contra-rotating fan. |
