The problem of tunnel water seepage has been now a widespread disease for the built tunnels, which looms large especially in the tunnel design, construction and its commercial operation. The tunnel water seepage will cause the pavement become wet and slippery, which will threaten the securities of driving. The tunnel water seepage can also increase the humidity in the tunnel, and affects in return to the efficient use of some facilities in the tunnel. In cold areas, the tunnel water seepage will trigger various freeze harms, and deteriorate the conditions for the tunnel to be a business. As a result, the treatment of waterproof and drainage of the tunnel have become one of the key issues in tunnel construction areas.Combining with the traffic technology project of Jiangxi province "Site observation of the tunnel seepage diseases and investigation of the preventing technologies" and taking the newly built tunnel in Jing Wu Huang highway project as a concrete example, we investigate the excavation structure plane of surrounding rock according to the synthesis of the engineering geological circumstances of the new tunnel. We analyze the crack distribution pattern and superior structure faces of surrounding rock by using DIPS software. We also calculate the 3D permeability tensor of the surrounding rock, and discuss several mathematical models and basic equations for the crack rock. After that, we use FLAC3D software of finite difference method to conduct a numerical analysis on the tunnel. We select a shallow section of the new tunnel between YK12+450~YK12+500, and proceed a numerical analysis under the conditions of by taking into account the interaction of the seepage field and without consideration the interaction of the seepage field respectively. All the work is based on parameters provided by an engineering investigation report and the seepage theory due to the coupling of fluid-solid. After finishing the work, we get some useful conclusions which will be of great benefit to the engineering practice.Besides, after inquiring into tunnel water seepage of different sections at different stage of construction and looking for reasons of tunnel water seepage from both geological and construction design points of view, we propose some corresponding measures for resolving the problem of tunnel seepage. Finally, we summarize some major measures for the excavation supporting and waterproof in mountain tunnel project. Combined with the actual situation of the construction of two slot settlement joint lining crack seepage after new tunnel construction is completed, we put forward some treatment programs for seepage and show how to conduct an efficient analysis about the observation results.
