Research-oriented Urban Design And Application In Teaching

After 20 years of development, China's urban design has a substantialdevelopment either in theory or in practice. However, Judging from the actualsituation of current urban design, China's urban design theories still can not good dealwith the increasingly integrated development trends of urban design disciplines andcomplex socio-economic conditions. Therefore, it is necessary to re-initiatedresearch-oriented urban design, in order to form the urban design theories withChinese characteristics, and through its application in teaching, to improve the futureurban designer's capacity in coping with the complicated urban design, and thenactualize the research-oriented urban design's application in urban design practice.This paper inspect the urban design and urban design teaching under anambitious social development background, analysis the characteristics of theresearch-oriented urban design and the approach of its application in urban designteaching, summed up the general mode of urban design teaching, and demonstrate byanalyzing teaching examples, provide reference for the reform of urban designteaching.
